My old website was powered by grav, which is a static site generator. After using it for many years, I became dissatisfied with how complicated it was. Generating static web pages from markdown isn’t rocket science, yet managing my site was always more complex than I felt it should be.
Now I’m using Hugo, which is a much simpler static site generator. I like it because it actually lets me focus on just the actual content of the site (markdown documents), has a much larger library of community themes, and ships with a built-in webserver. It’s much more convenient, and I’m much happier with it.
